KEYPHONY / SUPPORT

Keyphony Support

Keyphony is a native Mac app that plays keyboard sounds and shows an interactive keyboard. You can explore its keyboard view, choose sounds, adjust audio and visual preferences, and save combinations locally.

This guide covers Keyphony 1.0 for Mac, being prepared for the Mac App Store. Store availability has not been announced on this page.

Getting started

  1. Open Keyphony and choose a sound in the library. Your explicit On/Off choice for external typing is saved locally. A new installation without a saved On choice starts external typing Off.
  2. Use the keyboard view to try sounds inside Keyphony. Monitoring other apps is optional.
  3. For sounds while typing elsewhere, choose selected apps or all apps, then explicitly turn sound On. For selected apps, add the apps you want to use and save your selection.
  4. Adjust volume, mute and audio output in the app. When editing preferences, use “Save settings and close” to keep your changes.

Restarting and saved external sound

After a normal quit and restart, Keyphony restores your saved external On/Off choice. A saved On choice can resume external typing only when permission, the selected-app scope and safety conditions allow it; a saved Off choice stays Off.

If Input Monitoring permission is missing before external typing first activates, the On choice remains saved while input observation and external sound stay stopped. Granting permission alone does not resume typing in the current session: quit and reopen Keyphony, or explicitly reselect the typing scope/turn external sound On. Permission revocation or a safety stop after activation can switch external typing Off. After resolving the cause, choose On again. If an earlier version saved Off, choose On explicitly once.

Input Monitoring permission

For typing sounds in other apps, grant Keyphony Input Monitoring permission manually in macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring. Return to Keyphony and check the permission status. Quit and reopen the app, or explicitly reselect the typing scope/turn external sound On, to make a new activation attempt. If macOS asks you to quit and reopen the app, follow that prompt.

The external input observer listens without modifying your original keyboard events. The reviewed build does not request Accessibility permission. Microphone access is not needed for its keyboard sounds; the audio meter measures the app’s own output.

External sounds stop when macOS Secure Input is detected, permission is lost, or input observation is interrupted. Keyphony cannot recognize every password field. Turn sound Off before typing passwords or other sensitive information. You can revoke Input Monitoring at any time in System Settings.

Troubleshooting

No sound

Check that sound is On, volume is above zero, and mute is disabled. Check the output device and the Mac’s volume. If a selected device was disconnected, choose “System default output” or an available device.

Sounds work in Keyphony, but not in another app

Check the selected-apps or all-apps scope, saved app selection, and Input Monitoring permission. Secure Input can temporarily stop external sounds. After the condition clears, check the status and explicitly turn sound On again. Do not disable security features to force sound playback.

The window closed, but the app is still running

Closing the window leaves Keyphony in the menu bar. Use its menu to reopen the window, switch sound Off, or quit.

Preferences or combinations did not save

Use the Save action and check for an error message. You can import or export combinations as a JSON file through the app’s file picker. Keep any exported file somewhere you control. If saving still fails, contact us before deleting files or changing folder permissions.

Contact support

The app’s Help and support link opens the public support page in your default browser; the page’s email link opens your configured email handler, and the app does not prepare a message, attach diagnostics or files, or send email.

Email [email protected] in English or Korean. Include your Keyphony version/build, macOS version, Mac model, audio output device, the relevant sound scope, what you expected, and the steps that reproduce the issue. No response-time guarantee is offered.

Do not send passwords, private typed text, account credentials, or unrelated personal files. Attach diagnostic material only if you choose to and after removing personal information. Read the Keyphony privacy policy for input handling and local storage details.

Keyphony
